Check the document like a reviewer
Before sending a resume, open the exported PDF and scan it the way a recruiter or hiring manager will. The document should communicate your strongest fit within a few seconds.
This pass is not about rewriting every sentence. It is about catching preventable issues before they reach an employer.
Review the essentials
A resume can be well written and still lose polish because of small formatting or export mistakes. Run a quick checklist on every final PDF.
- Name, email, phone, portfolio, and location are current.
- Links open correctly and point to the right profiles or work samples.
- Dates and job titles are consistent across the document.
- Bullets use the same tense and punctuation style.
- The file name is simple and professional.
- No section gets stranded awkwardly at a page break.
Make the first page count
The first page should carry the strongest signal for the role. If the job is technical, make relevant tools and project outcomes easy to find. If the role is operational, lead with scope, ownership, and measurable results.
Save a clean version history
When you apply to multiple roles, clear document names and saved drafts matter. Keep the final PDF and editable draft connected so you can revise the right version later.
