Free ATS resume checker
See what resume software can actually read.
Get a transparent, browser-local readability score and personalized resume previews. Your source PDF never leaves your device.
Private, browser-local analysis
Check a resume without uploading it
Choose an English-language PDF. Text extraction, scoring, previews, and best-effort import run on this device.
- No file upload
- No account required
- Deterministic ats-v1 score
Add a job description (optional)
We will show literal wording overlap separately. It does not change your ATS score.
Or paste resume text
Use up to 50,000 characters. This receives a text-only report and can be imported just like readable PDF content.
Your PDF stays in this browser. The checker does not send its text, filename, or results to CreateResume servers.
Transparent by design
What the ats-v1 score measures
A repeatable document check with published weights. The same input and diagnostics produce the same score; optional on-device AI never participates in scoring.
- 35%Machine readability
- 20%Standard structure
- 15%Contact information
- 20%Experience & impact
- 10%Consistency & concision
Privacy
Your resume stays yours
PDF.js runs in a browser worker, and the report is kept in memory only. No resume content, filenames, or handoff data are placed in URLs, analytics events, or server logs.
If Chrome offers its optional local model, it runs only after you click and also processes resume content on-device. The base checker remains complete when local AI is unavailable.
Questions
ATS checker FAQ
Clear limits, privacy details, and what this score does—and does not—mean.
Does CreateResume upload my PDF?
No. The checker reads, scores, and parses the PDF inside your browser. The source PDF, filename, extracted text, and report are not sent to CreateResume servers.
Is this the same score an employer sees?
No. Employers use different systems and configurations. The ats-v1 score is a transparent document-readability check, not a hiring prediction or a replica of any employer ATS.
Does the job description affect the ATS score?
No. If you add a job description, the checker reports literal keyword overlap separately. It does not claim semantic suitability and never changes the general score.
What happens when PDF text cannot be read?
The PDF receives a low, capped score. You can paste the visible text to make personalized previews and an editor draft without changing the original PDF score.
How does the optional on-device AI work?
Eligible Chrome devices can use Chrome’s locally installed model after an explicit click. The model processes content on-device, cannot alter the score, and only source-backed fields pass validation.
